  Description

For fans of: Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, Dio, Accept, Rainbow, Ozzy, Hammerfall, Primal Fear, Sabaton.

A Sound of Thunder delivers timeless metal with a focus on melodic, memorable songs with a "sardonic twist".  Lead vocalist Nina Osegueda is a rare example of a metal frontwoman who delivers powerful, lung-busting performances more akin to Bruce Dickinson than Amy Lee.  The band combines traditional heavy metal with elements of modern power metal, '60s and '70s blues based proto-metal combined with prog rock.  Big, catchy riffs accompanied by a rhythm section walking the line between classic groove and prog/power technicality with solos that recall the glory days of arena metal!   Lyrics running the gamut of sci-fi/fantasy to more personal, soul-searching topics. OUT OF THE DARKNESS is a refreshingly familiar dose of metal that would stand up  as well in 1981 as well as 2021, simply timeless heavy songs.

'A Sound of Thunder ' was formed in 2008 by guitarist Josh Schwartz, drummer Chris Haren joined by vocalist Nina Osegueda, (co-founder of  "Blood Corps").  The trio Headed straight into the studio to record their debut self-titled EP with session bassist Chris Willett, then quickly followed up recording the "West Memphis Three" charity single "Justice at Last".

After adding bassist/keyboardist Jesse Keen and completing their lineup. the band produced their first full length album "Metal Renaissance" near the end of 2010, continuing to gig with such artists as Doro Pesch and Firewind. The release of "Metal Renaissance" came independently in March 2011 and drew positive reviews bringing a headlining gig at Baltimore's prestigious "Rams Head Live!" venue.  Never content to rest, A Sound of Thunder immediately began recording their followup sophomore effort "Out of the Darkness" with producer Kevin "131" Gutierrez (Shinedown, Raven, While Heaven Wept) in May 2011.  As 2012 dawns A Sound of Thunder has played for fans as far afield as Chicago, IL and Syracuse, NY,  with Sabaton, Accept, Loudness, and Dio Disciples and is looking forward to spreading their epic noise around the world.
